The High Performance Polymers Business Unit of Degussa AG, Düsseldorf, announces global price increases of 5 to 9% across the entire nylon-based product portfolio (VESTAMID?, VESTOSINT?, VESTAMLET? and TROGAMID?) effective November 1, 2005.
Regarding its VESTENAMER? polyoctenamer portfolio, prices will increase on average by 12%.Finally, the prices of monomers and chemicals for synthesis of the C8 and C12 ring family will increase up to 30%.
The business unit has been permanently striving to offset dramatic and continuous rising costs with productivity measures involving both cost-cutting and process optimization programs along the whole supply chain. However, the extent of the cost increase, linked mainly to energy, transportation and raw materials, makes these price increases inevitable in order to enable High Performance Polymers to remain a sustainable partner in the future. Customers under current long-term contract agreements are not concerned by this price increases until the scheduled termination.
