Invensys enhances Dynsim simulation software

2025China.cn   2008年09月18日

September 18, 2008 -- Invensys Process Systems released a new version of its Dynsim dynamic simulation program, used by chemical engineers to simulate industrial processes in the oil and gas processing, liquified natural gas, refining, petrochemical and chemical industries for design and operator training.

Version 4.3 of the Dynsim program includes improved features for distillation modeling, compressor modeling, process visualization and ease of use that allow design engineers to improve process designs and control systems, significantly reduce equipment capital costs and avoid startup delays of new facilities. The new features will provide more accurate simulators to train plant operators at new facilities and new plant operators to replenish a retiring workforce.

Version 4.3 of the Dynsim program includes improved distillation column modeling for more realistic operator training and rigorous column relief analysis. The program can be easily used to completely model process relief and flare systems from a typical distillation column relief source all the way to the flare tip. Visualization improvements allow dynamic plotting of column internal conditions to reveal what occurs during normal and transient operation, such as pressure relief. It can also be used to eliminate or reduce the cost of a relief and flare system expansion by providing a more accurate alternative to conventional design methods.

Version 4.3 also includes new features that more accurately model compressor systems for process design and control strategy validation. The Dynsim program is integrated with SimSci-Esscor's TRISIM Plus program to provide connections to Triconex's TriStation 1131control configuration tools for detailed checkout of turbomachinery controls. Improved visualization features allow dynamic plotting of the compressor operation on its performance curve. Additionally, the Dynsim program can validate the compressor protection control system designs and reduce the time required to commission the new controls in the field for an accelerated plant startup. Other visualization features in the Dynsim version 4.3 program include the plotting of temperature profiles in advanced heat exchange systems, such as a main cryogenic heat exchanger found in LNG liquefaction plants.

"The Dynsim solution is one of the only dynamic simulators in the market that can be used over an entire project lifecycle, from process engineering design to control system checkout to operator training," said Tobias Scheele, IPS Vice President of Advanced Applications. "Dynsim 4.3 is an example of our commitment to creating new, powerful solutions that meet the evolving needs of the industry, and we will continue to develop better software and technology that deliver significant value to our clients."

About IPS (Invensys Process Systems)
Invensys Process Systems (IPS), headquartered in Plano, Texas, is a global technology, software and consulting firm leading significant change in process manufacturing, plant optimization, business operations and enterprise performance. IPS clients are some of the world's most important industrial organizations -- companies that operate large oil refineries; plants that process chemicals, gas, LNG, power, pharmaceutical and minerals; and pulp and paper mills. IPS solutions, used at over 50,000 locations across the globe, include field devices and controls from Foxboro and Triconex, advanced applications from SimSci-Esscor, operations management from Avantis, and the world's first truly open enterprise control system, InFusion.

The company's nearly 7,000 employees integrate these capabilities to create solutions that impact and increase efficiency, boost productivity, and accelerate performance. These results help industrial companies run safer, operate more efficiently, and extract useful knowledge from their operations to make faster, better decisions.

The Invensys Group is headquartered in London and is listed on the London Stock Exchange (ISYS.L), with approximately 25,000 employees working in 60 countries.
