August 27, 2008 -- Invensys Process Systems signed a multi-million dollar deal with state-owned Taiwan Power Company (TPC) to provide critical upgrades to the Kuosheng Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in northern Taiwan.
Under the terms of the contract, IPS will replace and upgrade obsolete analog-based recirculation water control systems with digital systems, allowing Kuosheng NPP to better handle plant transients and significantly improve plant availability. IPS will also provide modifications to operational training simulators to ensure process consistency with the upgrades.
"IPS services and solutions have demonstrated superior performance over incumbent, older systems, and are an important part of TPC's goal to improve plant availability and the delivery and quality of our energy products," said Mr. TS Liu, Instrumentation and Controls Manager at TPC Kuosheng. Kuosheng NPP is the second nuclear power station of state-owned Taiwan Power Company, with its two plants each generating 985MW in electrical power. More than 30 percent of TPC's MW generation is controlled and monitored by IPS systems.
